If your viscose carpet at home gets a lot of use, it may get to a state where you cannot get rid of dust and dirt by just vacuuming and therefore it is always best to have your viscose carpet professionally cleaned. Proper cleaning techniques can keep your carpet in great condition.

Viscose Carpets – The History and Science of Carpets

Viscose hand woven carpets are very soft and smooth unlike wool. It is also a natural material. Viscose carpets are a great cost-effective alternative to silk carpets. Like their luxury counterparts, viscose designs offer exceptional smoothness and a glossy finish. Viscose fibers have the same visually high sheen as silk yarns. This makes viscose rugs a suitable alternative to more luxurious textiles.

Viscose carpets are known for their great comfort, which is due to the soft rayon fibres that are embedded in the carpet. The carpets are offered in bright colors and with striking patterns that will elevate the decor of any home. Although some arrangers use viscose rugs as wall decorations.

Viscose rugs offer an easy way to enhance interior decor on a limited budget. They are available in a range of enticing patterns and bold colours. They are made from natural synthetic fibres that add exceptional comfort.

The location of a viscose rug can be used throughout the home due to their durable viscose. A beige viscose rug will look great in rooms decorated in neutral tones, while red patterns will add vibrancy to intimate spaces such as the living room.

Viscose rugs allow you to easily achieve a designer look without having to dig deep into your pockets. You can either choose a simple colour or combine different shades to achieve a more eclectic look.

Viscose carpet cleaning and maintenance

Viscose carpets with natural material require professional care. It is not recommended to attempt home deep cleaning via a steam cleaner from the back and front, as the steam cleaner is unable to clean it all and the excessive heat penetrating it damages the wool and its natural lanolin. Excessive heat can also lead to shrinkage of the natural fibres of viscose carpets, which can put you at risk of permanent damage.

Home care for viscose carpets is simple. Regular weekly vacuuming ideally with a knocking head will not harm it for decades. The natural vegetable dyes, dense weave and natural grease of virgin wool provide protection so that most dirt will not penetrate the carpet at all. Only the smallest particles of sand and dust can settle in the foundation over time. In order to remove even the smallest dust particles from the carpet, it is recommended to have the carpet deep cleaned every 2-3 years by an expert – professional natural carpet cleaner.

If the viscose carpet only comes into contact with water, it is usually enough to dry it thoroughly on both sides. Viscose is particularly sensitive to moisture. Therefore, care must be taken not to ruin the carpet with spilled liquids. Any spillages should be wiped up immediately with an absorbent cotton cloth. The carpet will lift for several days in a wet place, as the warp expands due to the moisture. Once the moisture has escaped from the carpet, the warp will settle again and the carpet will not change. Heavy rubbing of water stains in dry conditions or the use of cleaning agents should be avoided, as both can damage the viscose carpet. In the case of coffee or cola stains, you should contact a professional as soon as possible. You can treat the stain yourself using lukewarm water and dishwashing liquid. However, you should seek professional advice before doing so.

The professional carpet cleaning and the reputable viscose carpet maintenance provided through an expertly skilled process brings assurance that your viscose carpet will not shrink, fade, or even show any damage.

  • We first remove most dirt and dust from the viscose carpet by hand with gentle machinery, instead of running it through aggressive equipment that can damage your precious carpet.
  • Depending on the material of your viscose carpet, we will use a specialized stain remover to thoroughly remove or reduce the stain depending on the condition of the carpet.
  • Depending on the material, your carpet will either be cleaned in a water bath and then chemically cleaned using special “WOOL SAFE” chemical cleaners.
  • We will then dry the viscose carpet as best we can to remove excess moisture and let it dry and turn it off.
  • Finally, we thoroughly disinfect and impregnate the viscose carpet and after a thorough inspection, we wrap it and prepare it for delivery or transport to you.

In conclusion, it is always better to have your viscose carpets cleaned by a professional than to try to do it yourself. This is because the greater the likelihood of a mistake, the more your carpet will be damaged or may become locally degraded and even irreversibly so.
